It seemed painfully obvious what the years 2000-2009 should be called. (“We love the ’00s,” Dec. 28.)
Look, if “aught” is too California gold miner, let’s get a bit more high-tech and remember that another word for zero is naught, which is the arithmetical symbol “0.”
Plus, this past couple of years (and undoubtedly the next five–and I dislike sounding pessimistic, but I’m facing facts) are bound to be saturated with more trouble.
My suggestion? The “Naughties.”
