– ABC News has drafted Diane Sawyer and Charles Gibson to fill in on the evening newscast for Bob Woodruff, who was wounded in an explosion in Iraq. Sawyer and Gibson–who anchor “Good Morning America”–will take turns substituting for Woodruff for the next few weeks, joining his “World News Tonight” co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas, ABC said. Gibson and Sawyer may not appear on “Good Morning America” on the same days they are anchoring the nightly news.
– Veteran CBS News White House correspondent John Roberts is joining CNN. Roberts, 49, made his last appearance for CBS News during coverage of President Bush’s State of the Union address Tuesday. He starts at CNN Feb. 20.
– Kanye West heads into the Grammys ceremony next week with music critics solidly behind him: “Late Registration” has topped the Village Voice’s annual critics poll of the preceding year’s best works.
– Britney Spears is set to guest star on NBC’s “Will & Grace.” The pop tart will appear as a Christian conservative sidekick to Sean Hayes’ character, who hosts his own talk show, on the April 13 episode. Jack’s fictional network, Out TV, is bought by a Christian TV network, leading to a Spears-led cooking segment called “Cruci-fixin’s.”
