This is regarding “Popping off” (Editorial, May 24). I completely understand why people would complain about the smell of popcorn and chocolate assaulting them all day. It’s one thing to enjoy the aroma of something for a moment, but for eight or more hours a day? Not good. Just the thought of prolonged exposure to the smell of fake butter coating and caramelized sugar is turning my stomach. Besides, the scents emitted from the chocolate and popcorn establishments are hardly pure–I’ve been in the vicinity of the Blommer Chocolate Co. factory and actually said, “What’s that horrible smell?” Only to be told that I was smelling something chocolate-like.
