Bob White was born on April 13, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN to Annette and Charles White. Robert Stierlin White was the third son in a family of four boys; namely Bud (Wilfred), Chuck (Charles) and Dick (Richard). They moved to Chicago and settled in South Shore. What with his father on the road a lot and the fact that his mother didn’t drive, it is said that his Mom would put him in a little red wagon and, when necessary, and take him to nearby South Shore Hospital to have his frequent cuts and bruises patched up by the medical staff there. The White Family then moved to the Woodlawn Area of Chicago, and Bob attended nearby Mount Carmel High School. After classes, he would take the I C Train to downtown Chicago, and work at Carson Pirie Scott. He worked for Carson1/8s for 47 years, until he retired. He rose to become Manager of many of their stores, and actually opened Carson’s stores at North Riverside, Orland Park, Merrillville, and Stratford Square. He was a favorite boss to many employees. In the early “Fifties”, while being in a wedding party for a friend, he met the love of his life; Jean Goyer. They waited until Jean graduated from nurse’s training, and so were married on October 23, 1954. Their marriage was blessed with seven children: Paula, Bob, Tom, Annette, Jim, Bill, and David. The family moved to Bourbonnais for a while when Carson’s needed him at that location. However, the family eventually moved back to the Chicago Suburb of Villa Park. They became staunch members of St. Alexander’s Parish, where in 2004 Jean and Bob celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. In recent years, Jean and Bob moved to St. Charles to be near family. Throughout his life, Bob has been grateful for his many blessings, which include nine grandchildren: Maggie and Jamie Keen, Jonas and Justin White, Jaime, Joe and Tom Hernandez, and Colin and Brianna White.
