Barry Bonds’ lawsuit against two San Francisco Chronicle reporters who published parts of his secret grand jury testimony in a best-selling book has been quietly dismissed. His lawyer says Bonds took the action because the reporters–Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams–have been subpoenaed by a grand jury investigating who leaked transcripts of the testimony. It is illegal to share secret transcripts with anyone not associated with a case. Bonds wanted whoever leaked the documents to be held accountable, the player’s lawyer, Michael Rains said. “We were heartened the system sort of does work,” Rains added. “Barry said, `We got what we wanted to get.’ We feel very satisfied.”
