Former Blackhawk Jeremy Roenick said on WGN radio Monday and in a Tuesday phone interview with the Tribune that returning to the Hawks is his priority. “One of the places I would love to play is Chicago,” the 36-year-old said. Team GMs can’t talk about potential free agents until July 1.
Injured Steelers QB upgraded
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could be out of the hospital in a few days and appears likely to play this season after a bloody motorcycle accident in which his helmetless head shattered a car windshield.
The Steelers’ Super Bowl-winning quarterback was upgraded to fair condition at Pittsburgh’s Mercy Hospital on Tuesday. His only major injuries were to his face: a broken upper and lower jaw, a loss of two teeth, a broken nose, broken facial bones and various cuts and bruises.
Nobody has been cited in the crash, and police won’t release information until an accident reconstruction is complete, a police spokeswoman said.
Redick’s arrest draws attention
The fallout for Duke’s JJ Redick over his arrest early Tuesday for drunken driving won’t be severe. Redick is one of shooting guards the Bulls are eyeing with their No. 16 pick and while the arrest probably wouldn’t deter the Bulls, a team source said the Bulls would scrutinize the incident.
