Octopus dumplings, or takoyaki, are made from wheat flour paste mixed with fish stock, spring onions and boiled octopus chunks, and are drizzled with a sweet sauce, dried bonito flakes and seaweed.
Plane diverted after fight
A flight to Puerto Rico was diverted to New York City’s Kennedy Airport shortly after takeoff early Sunday because a fight broke out on board, officials said. Three women were questioned, and one was briefly detained, an FBI spokeswoman said. It appeared that one woman had started a fistfight with the other two, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the area’s airports.
Chancellor jumps to death
University of California Santa Cruz chancellor Denice Denton, 46, died Saturday in an apparent suicide jump from a 43-story apartment building, authorities said. Denton had been on medical leave for undisclosed reasons since June 15 and was expected back at work on Monday. Denton’s mother was in the building at the time of the death and told investigators her daughter was “very depressed,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Group says hostages killed
An Al Qaeda-linked group posted a Web video Sunday showing the killings of three Russian embassy workers–two by beheading and one by shooting–abducted earlier this month in Iraq. A fourth also was said to have been killed. An accompanying statement by the Mujahedeen Shura Council, an umbrella organization linking seven insurgent groups including Al Qaeda in Iraq, said all four Russians had been killed.
2 dead, 5 hurt in shootings
A gunman opened fire inside a grocery chain’s sprawling warehouse, killing one person and wounding five others–two critically– before he was killed by police. Several fires also were set Sunday inside the Safeway Inc. distribution center a few miles northeast of downtown Denver along busy Interstate 70, authorities said. More than 150 employees were forced to evacuate, police said, and dozens of officers sealed off the area.
