Your presentation of the Carlos De Luna matter actually strengthened my support for keeping the death penalty. You obviously put a lot of effort into your presentation and yet really presented nothing new in the debate about abolishing the death penalty. I say the government should do everything reasonably possible to prevent the execution of the innocent, consistent with its moral obligation to society to put people to death for their crimes in certain cases. It’s a tragedy when a mistake occurs. Still that’s no justification for shirking this moral obligation altogether or for making it virtually impossible to execute the guilty.
