We have reached a sad day when the disgusting spectacle of individuals stuffing themselves to overflowing with frankfurters attracts major media attention, including an Associated Press report (News, July 5) and coverage on ESPN. Is this dopey event news? Only if one considers “news of the weird” to qualify.
Does it serve any purpose other than to sicken the viewer? Is it something that attracts great interest? If it is, our society is in a sad state of affairs.
