Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich was added to the U.S. national team, which needs another outside shooting threat with J.J. Redick injured. Hinrich, 25, averaged a career-best 15.9 points last season and was even better in the playoffs, averaging 20.5 points and 7.7 assists.
Thomas sues over foot
Former White Sox slugger Frank Thomas alleges in a lawsuit he filed Wednesday that two of the team’s doctors failed to detect he had broken his foot in 2004-an injury that led to his departure from Chicago.
Thomas is now is the designated hitter for the Oakland Athletics.The lawsuit, alleging medical negligence, was filed in Cook County Circuit Court and does not give a dollar amount sought. The White Sox are not a party in the suit.
Hawks hire radio voice
John Wiedeman, radio voice of the New York Islanders, was named the Blackhawks radio play-by-play announcer and he will team with analyst Troy Murray. The Hawks ousted Pat Foley after 25 years and continue to search for a play-by-play TV announcer to partner with Ed Olczyk.
