Geno Bahena may have shuttered Chilpancingo and split town (ditto for his brother Tomas, who ditched Ixcapuzalco for greener pastures), but his brother-in-law Carlos Tello and his mole-making mama Clementina Flores–both clocked kitchen time under Geno–are carrying on the family tradition. Chilpancingo fans will feel right at home; Tello procured artwork and table settings from the restaurant. Sol, which launched in early April, aims to please with a menu that runs the range from $1.95 carne asada tacos (with housemade tortillas) to grilled skirt steak in ranchero salsa at $7.95. Moles are a best bet with choices like lamb in kicky black mole negro ($8.95), tilapia in herby mole verde ($7.95) and pork in spicy-sweet mole manchamanteles ($7.95). As if the low, low prices weren’t enough enticement, Sol is BYOB. 3018 N. Cicero Ave. 773-282-4119.
