Steven Zahareas calls liberals hypocritical for opposing the death penalty while favoring a woman’s right to choose. That may be true, but is it any less logical than favoring the death penalty but opposing a woman’s right to choose? Each life is absolutely sacred, without exception. Or it isn’t. You just can’t have it both ways. Both wings, left and right, need either to make up their minds or to admit the internal contradictions in some of their core beliefs. Or better yet, maybe each side would be better served if its partisans would stop bending over backward trying to demonize the other side when they can’t defend the logic of their own position.
