Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

So you’re angry that Cubs fans have started to do the wave inside Wrigley Field. Boo. Hoo. Shouldn’t we be more concerned about a team waving bye-bye to the NL Central?

2. Wash outs

And Cubs fans being Cubs fans, when they did the wave, about 50 of them probably strained an oblique muscle.

3. Falling flat

Sure, you admire Floyd Landis for fighting back, but you just know this isn’t going to end up looking good. Just like, say, this Sox season.

4. The Flaggs!

This fall there will be three brothers from the same family serving as NFL refs. Yep, I smell a network sitcom too.

5. Big hurtin’

Jim Thome and Nomar Garciaparra are among 12 finalists for the comeback player of the year awards in the AL and NL. Garciaparra, of course, has won the award a record 17 times.

6. Swing away

Tiger Woods. Youngest golfer to win 50 PGA titles. His words: “It’s a lifelong ambition to get better.” Ease up, man, you’re blowing the curve.

7. Universal appeal

The NBA expects 100 of its 450 players next year will be from outside the U.S., but not one of them will be Martian. That is, not that you know of.

8. Just wondering

Discussion topic: In signing a TV deal with ESPN, Major League Soccer will become more popular than the NHL in five years. Hmmmm …

9. Start me up

Mark it down: The Rolling Stones play Sept. 29 at the Kentucky Derby’s Churchill Downs. That’s going to do wonders for Mick Jagger’s stud fee.

FIVE THINGS…

Annoying things I never want to see at Wrigley:

– Beachball toss

– Joan Rivers

– Daiquiris

– A Hanson show

– A Cardinals sweep
