Margaret “Peggy Jean” Conerty, 1927-2006. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Margaret “Peggy Jean” Conerty on Thursday, August 31, at 11 a.m. at Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1500 S. Michigan Ave. Miss Conerty, a lifelong Chicagoan, died on August 9 at the age of 79. A 1949 graduate of St. Mary’s College of Notre Dame, Miss Conerty worked for many years with Technical Publishing of Chicago until her retirement. A fourth generation Chicagoan, Miss Conerty was the daughter of Danial J. and Julia, nee Britt, Conerty, both of whom pre-deceased her. Miss Conerty was the niece of several career teachers in the Chicago public school system, including: Florence Conerty, Agnes (Hoy) Conerty, Virginia (Smietanka) Conerty and Margaret (Drumm) Conerty. In addition to her father, her uncles Raymond and James Conerty and Estelle Conerty pre-deceased her. She is survived by numerous cousins, including: James Conerty of Palos Heights, IL, Elizabeth Conerty of McLean, VA, Pamela Moritz of Morgantown, W. VA, John Smietanka of Stevensville, MI and Raymond Smietanka of Washington, D.C.
