Chicago Fire Department personnel rescued two window washers trapped Monday on a scaffold dangling from a building at Madison and Halsted Streets, a department spokeswoman said.

The scaffold problem was first reported at about 8:40 a.m., and the rescue took about 20 minutes, spokeswoman Eve Rodriguez said.

It was not immediately known what caused the scaffold breakdown or how high up the building the workers were. There were no injuries, Rodriguez said.
