If anything, Bridget Moynahan is connected.
The girlfriend of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, the statuesque model turned actress has her first regular series role in “Six Degrees,” ABC’s new Thursday drama from “Lost” producer J.J. Abrams about several strangers whose paths cross in profound ways.
Moynahan’s character, publicity executive Whitney, is struggling with the infidelity of the man she loves. While becoming friends with a single mother (Hope Davis) she’s just met, she hopes to do business with a photographer (Campbell Scott) who doubts he still has talent.
“I think everybody can relate,” Moynahan reflects, “to the idea you can bump into someone who unravels your own life experiences or those of people you know.
“I hope we can keep the sense of reality; that’s what is so appealing to me about this. New York is the best background for it; I live there, and I’m very excited to be home.”
As Natasha, the woman Mr. Big married and later divorced on “Sex and the City,” Moynahan also got to work in the Big Apple. “I still get people talking to me about it when I’m out and about,” she confirms.
Although she has stayed busy in movies, Moynahan felt from the start “Six Degrees” was the right vehicle to bring her to the home screen full time: “The writers are smart; they come up with concepts that are a little out of the norm for what we see on television now. It’s a different schedule and a different lifestyle, so we’ll see.”
