This is regarding the obituary of Seymour Simon (Page 1, Sept. 27).
While in the working world, I walked east from the Oglivie station to my office and Judge Seymour Simon walked west to the Loop from his Near North Side residence.
We passed one another so often that we decided we were acquainted (although we had never met) and it became our habit to exchange greetings.
One morning after I said “Good morning, judge,” and he replied, “How are you today?” another walker called to me, “Gee do you know him? He’s the most outstanding judge I’ve ever known. All of us lawyers really respect him.”
That comment may summarize the esteem in which this distinguished Chicagoan was held.
