John E. Kirchner, Navy Veteran, age 78 of Oak Lawn, passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006. John is survived by his loving family, his wife, Mary Jane, nee Phares; children, Margaret (Ray) Gray, Michael, James (Nanette), Laura (John) Quillinan, Tom (Gina), Debbie (Ben) Heredia, Johnny, Robert (Bernie), Michael Ball, Scott (Victoria) Ball and Dennis Ball; he was the proud grandfather of 20; and honored with nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Thomas (Jean) Stapleton and Marie (Jack) Giblin; and brother-in-law of Joyce Stapleton. John was preceded in death by his parents, Theresa Stapleton and Herman Kirchner; and his brother the late Robert Stapleton. John worked as a machinist for Dreis & Krump Mfg. and Accurate Mfg. in Chicago, retiring in 1991. He loved gardening, cooking and most of all, his family. Visitation Wednesday 3 to 8 p.m. Funeral Thursday 9:15 a.m. from Lawn Funeral Home, 7909 State Rd.
