No. 5 Illinois State (4-1, 1-0 Gateway) is expecting a big crowd for Saturday’s homecoming matchup with No. 7 Southern Illinois (5-0, 2-0). ISU is bringing in extra bleachers and expects from 15,000 to 18,000 fans at Hancock Stadium. . . . The Redbirds’ 28-27 victory Saturday over Western Kentucky was their first in Bowling Green, Ky. It was also coach Denver Johnson’s first Gateway Conference-opening road victory. ISU tailback Pierre Rembert finished with 142 yards on 26 carries, while quarterback Luke Drone completed 12 of 17 passes for 204 yards.
