– Actress Ruby Dee was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award on Friday as part of the 42nd Chicago International Film Festival. Dee was given the award by filmmaker Spike Lee at Northwestern’s Thorne Auditorium. Hip-hop performer and actor Andre Benjamin also was honored as an emerging artist.

– An Associated Press freelance photographer says security guards protecting a movie set where Angelina Jolie is shooting her latest film punched and threatened him at gunpoint Friday. Jolie is in Pune, India, to film “A Mighty Heart,” about slain journalist Daniel Pearl. Jolie plays Pearl’s wife, Mariane. The photographer representing the AP, Guautum Singh, said he was accosted by security guards after giving Jolie his business card. Another guard for Jolie and Brad Pitt was accused of manhandling a photographer in a separate incident Sunday.

– Kathie Lee Gifford is taking on the role of a kid-hater. She’ll be the orphan-loathing Miss Hannigan in the musical “Annie,” a publicist said. The show will play Dec. 6-30 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
