A mini-van that ran a red light caromed Monday night into the Cook County Building in the Loop after it was hit by another car, police said.
Only the scaffolding alongside the building at 118 N. Clark St., which is shared by City Hall, sustained damage, police said. The driver of the car suffered a minor ankle injury.
A 21-year-old Mt. Prospect woman was heading west on Randolph Street in her 2003 Chrysler Voyager around 9 p.m. Monday when she ran through the light at Clark, police said.
A 50-year-old man was traveling south on Clark when her van hit his 1997 Nissan Sentra.
“The Chrysler was knocked into the building, damaging scaffolding,” Officer Amina Greer said.
The man was taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and treated for his ankle injury, Greer said. The female driver was not hurt.
The motorists were the only occupants in their vehicles.
The female driver was ticketed for running the red light.
