When Oasis Cafe closed for remodeling in June we were bummed. We not only lost one of our fave Middle Eastern lunch spots–we also lost an excuse to ogle fine jewelry en route to the restaurant’s discreet location in the Wabash Jewelers Mall (21 N. Wabash Ave.). A lease dispute forced owner Suleiman Ahmad to move to more visible digs just south of the old location in mid-September. No dazzling diamonds on display in the food court that Oasis now calls home, but there’s seating for 250. Plus, the menu remains intact. Options include a baba ghanoush plate ($4.15) and a hummus plate with grilled chicken ($6.39), as well as daily specials such as Moroccan couscous ($5.49-$6.39). 17 S. Wabash Ave., 312-443-9534.
