Now that Illinois coach Ron Zook has had time to reflect on the positives in Saturday’s 26-12 loss at Penn State, it doesn’t seem as devastating to him as it did immediately afterward. The positives included 358 yards of total offense to the Nittany Lions’ 184 and holding them to 40 rushing yards, 122 fewer than their average.

“Except for the quarterback (Michael Robinson), they’re basically the team that beat us 64-10 last year and maybe could have beaten us 164-10 (if coach Joe Paterno hadn’t substituted en masse),” Zook said. “The only teams they’ve lost to are teams in the top 20 (Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame).”
