– A tribute honoring prima ballerina and longtime Chicagoan Maria Tallchief will be held Nov. 7 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The program will salute her artistic achievement as one of George Balanchine’s greatest ballerinas and her Osage Indian ancestry. Jacques d’Amboise, another legendary dancer and alumnus of the New York City Ballet, will be among the speakers, along with Anna Kisselgoff, former New York Times dance critic, and Francis Mason, editor of Ballet Review.
– Tony Award winner Liev Schreiber is taking on his first role in a TV series, joining the cast of CBS’ “CSI.” Schreiber will have a recurring part on the show, with his first appearance scheduled for January.
– “Project Runway” judge Nina Garcia and her husband, David Conrod, are expecting their first child together in March, People magazine reports. “This baby must have some amazing fashion sense, waiting until empire waists and volume came back into fashion,” Garcia says. Hope the baby is aesthetically pleasing.
