Alan Curtis Spillner, of Cary, born July 19, 1947 in Eau Claire, WI, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, beloved husband of 36 years to Kathryn, nee Thompson; devoted father of Brent (Angela Thelen) of Amsterdam and Kent of Cary; cherished son of Col. S.H. “Ziggy” and Betty, nee Fosgate, Spillner of Sun City Center, FL; son-in-law of Beth (the late James) Thompson of Galesburg; dear brother of Wayne (Jacqulyn) of Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law of Janet (Dr. James) Spoden of Zionsville, IN; uncle of Jeffrey Spillner and Elizabeth, Erika and Natalie Spoden. He was preceded by a daughter, Marissa, on Nov. 12, 1982. He was a graduate of Michigan State University, a Major in the U.S. Army, a Vietnam War Veteran and a Systems Analyst for Allstate Insurance Company. He was an Eagle Scout and longtime area Scouting Leader. He was an active member of Cary United Methodist Church and Trustee of the Northern Illinois Conference of the UMC. Visitation will be from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, Rt. 14 and Silver Lake Rd., Cary. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Friday at Cary United Methodist Church, 500 N.
