Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Conventional wisdom dictates teams getting ready to play in Colorado Springs must prepare for the high altitude. Coach Charlie Weis, though, said the Irish would waste little time worrying about it. “It will not be discussed,” he said. “What we found years ago going out to Denver is that at first we made a big deal out of it. We used to go out there two days early . . . and then we’d get our butt kicked. So then we started treating it like every other game; we’d go out there the day before. It’s scientifically proven that altitude doesn’t go into effect until after the first 48 hours. So we started treating it like every other game and then we started winning. I’m just going off of experience, and that’s how we’re treating it.”
