After reading the articles on Sammy Sosa, I can only think of what my mom would say: Holy God Almighty! What were you thinking to devote almost two full pages to this unbelievably arrogant egomaniac? It must have been a slow news day. I’m appalled.
Sammy standing next to a photo of himself (that’s a major red flag in itself) . . . instructing workers where to put the red carpet . . . Sammy on his cell phone . . . you have to be kidding. If you were looking to report on his future with MLB or touch on the steroid issue, you could have done that in a two-inch story on Page 17.
At a time when youth sports coaches are trying to teach their players about the value of a team effort, sportsmanship, etc., along comes this guy. Please, don’t ever take up valuable space with stories about one dimensional, self-centered egomaniacs. How about some stories about athletes who have really made a contribution to society . . . off the field, where it really matters.
