The word “selfish” is often used to describe individuals who seek dangerous adventures that can end badly, including with death. I believe that using the word “selfish” when discussing the adventurers is valid only if they leave behind minor children or a spouse or parents who will find it extremely difficult to support themselves.
Otherwise the adventurers are obviously free to place themselves in whatever type of “legal harm’s way” that “trips their triggers.”
