– Shauna Quill has been named the new executive director of the University of Chicago Presents concert series, effective Feb. 1. She has served as a programming executive for the Aspen Music Festival and an artist manager. She replaces Marna Seltzer, who left the post last year. –John von Rhein
– Actor Edward James Olmos criticized the U.S. and Puerto Rico on Tuesday for not moving faster to clean up the site of a former bombing range on Vieques Island. Olmos, 59, said officials “have done nothing” to restore an area that environmentalists say is tainted by dangerous pollutants nearly four years after the departure of the U.S. Navy.
– George Michael is scheduled to appear in a London court Jan. 11 on charges of being unfit to drive, Metropolitan Police said. The singer, 43, was arrested Oct. 2 after police said they found him passed out in his car.
– It’s a boy, again, for Will Ferrell and his wife, the actor’s publicist said Tuesday. Mattias Ferrell was born in the early hours of Dec. 30. Ferrell, 39, and Viveca Paulin were married in 2000 and have a 2-year-old son, Magnus.
