Cook County prosecutors are seeking to bar an attorney from representing one of the four men to go on trial Monday in connection with the 2003 E2 nightclub stampede in which 21 people died.
At a hearing Friday before Criminal Court Judge Dennis Porter, Assistant State’s Atty. Robert Egan said lawyer Raul Villalobos had a conflict of interest and should not represent defendant Marco Flores in the trial.
Along with Flores, the promoter of the party where the incident occurred, club owner Dwain Kyles, his partner Calvin Hollins Jr. and manager Calvin Hollins III are charged with involuntary manslaughter in the incident at the nightclub formerly at 2347 S. Michigan Ave.
Egan said Villalobos had represented Raphael Pellot, who was a security guard during the incident. Pellot is expected to be a prosecution witness.
