Democracy, we see, operates differently in Iraq and the U.S. If Saddam Hussein had his choice now, he probably would want his trial here in the U.S. Democracy seems to act faster in Iraq than in the U.S., for after being found guilty and his case appealed in six weeks, Hussein was put to death. Had he been tried here, Hussein would have had maybe 12 years before facing the death penalty. I am sure Hussein felt he could do without democracy in his life.
