Jude Law is our generation’s Michael Caine
In 2004 Law remade Caine’s 1966 classic “Alfie.” Now Law will star alongside the veteran British actor himself in a remake of Caine’s 1972 drama “Sleuth,” Variety reports.
So, as Caine literally passes the torch to Law, RedEye asks: What other actors remind us of the big-screen greats of years past? Check out a list we’re calling “Hollywood, version 2.0.”
Don Cheadle is the new Danny Glover
Both actors can blend effortlessly into action-comedies and emotionally charged dramas.
Josh Hartnett is the new Harrison Ford
The lanky hunks actually paired up for a movie, co-starring in the critically panned “Hollywood Homicide.”
Jason Statham is the new Jean- ClaudeVan Damme
They’re not quite the same as far as looks (or accent), but both are ready to kick some butt.
Brad Pitt is the new Robert Redford
Pitt looked especially Redford-like Sunday at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
The Rock is the new Hulk Hogan
An obvious comparison: Both wrestlers have crossed over into movies. (Here’s hoping The Rock doesn’t remake the Hulkster’s “Mr. Nanny.”)
Clive Owen is the new Pierce Brosnan
Tall, dark, handsome and from across the pond. Owen was at one point rumored to be replacing Brosnan as James Bond.
30 seconds to closing?
Jared Leto says his band 30 Seconds to Mars’ time may be up, mtv.com reports.
“We’re talking about the possibilities of another record or the possibility of calling it something else and saying goodbye,” the actor-frontman said. “You have to look at your life and see if you have anything to say or to offer at that point.”
It sounds like the band offered plenty with its clip for “From Yesterday,” which was filmed in China. “It’s one of those things that, regardless of the result of the video, it changed our lives, it really did,” Leto told MTV.
For now, the band plans to be part of the Taste of Chaos tour, which kicks off in February.
Trump war rages on
Rosie O’Donnell says Donald Trump is a man obsessed. “It’s the way I look. He can’t resist. I love when people say you’re fat like you don’t know,” O’Donnell joked Monday on ABC’s “The View.” “… It’s always the first comment of someone who disagrees with you if you happen to be on the plus side.” The Donald has been insulting Rosie since she criticized his news conference with Miss USA Tara Conner last month.
Married life
Actor Alan Cumming (“X2”) and his boyfriend Grant Shaffer are married, Cumming’s rep confirmed to eonline.com. The couple were wed in a civil ceremony in London, and celebrity onlookers included singer Rufus Wainwright and actress Mary-Elizabeth Mastrantonio. Cumming and Shaffer, an illustrator, have been together for two years.
Star gazing
The Hollywood Walk of Fame just got Swank-ier. “Freedom Writers” star Hilary Swank was honored with her own star along the famous walk Monday, tmz.com reports.
