David M. Markle, age 67, of Michigan City, IN, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 at 5:08 a.m. at his residence, with his children by his side. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at 12 noon at Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City. Mr. Markle was born Sept. 29, 1939 in Chicago to Art and Pat, nee Lydle, Markle, both of whom preceded him in death. Surviving are daughter, Pamela (Theodore) Schaetzle of Akron, OH; sons, Douglas (Sandra) Markle of Elmhurst, IL and Aaron Markle of Chicago; grandchildren, Taylor and Teddy Schaetzle and Sophie Markle. David was Executive Director of Children’s Habilitation Center for the past 35 years. He was involved in restaurants, real estate development and wildlife conservation. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. David was an honest, driven and successful businessman. He had a zest for life and loved family and friends. He maintained a special bond with his Labrador, Cash. Dave had a gift of helping others. He never met a stranger. Despite his valiant battle with cancer, he remained positive and kept his tremendous sense of humor. His legacy will carry on through many.
