Alma Welkom died peacefully in her home in Laguna Woods, CA, on Sunday, December 24, 2006, after a gallant struggle with respiratory and heart disease. Born on February 16, 1921, she grew up in New York and Chicago. She married the love of her life, the late Walter Welkom, during World War II. She and Walter had many happy years in Chicago, and in Cincinnati, OH, before retiring in Laguna Woods in 1998. Alma was widely read and had many varied interests. She loved art and was an artist herself. She also loved music, bridge, word puzzles, and golf. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving children, Stephen (Danette), Wendy and Carl; her grandchildren, Ari, Sasha, Lia and Sara; her brother-in-law, Jerome (Caroline Welkom); her brother-in-law Bernard Mack; and her niece and nephew and their families. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2007, in Laguna Woods.
