– Chicago lawyer Willard Fraumann is the new board chairman of the Chicago Humanities Festival. He succeeds Richard Franke, who assumes emeritus status with the cultural festival he founded 17 years ago. Fraumann has been on the organization’s board since 1997, most recently as vice chairman.
– A tabloid journalist who hacked into royal officials’ voice mail was sentenced Friday to 4 months in prison, and his editor resigned. The British judge said he had no option but to hand a prison sentence to Clive Goodman, the royal editor of the News of the World, describing his crime as “reprehensible in the extreme.”
– Muhammad Ali and his wife, Lonnie, have bought a $1.8 million home that will bring the three-time heavyweight boxing champ closer to his native Louisville. Mike Fox, president of the Muhammad Ali Center, told The Courier-Journal that travel is becoming increasingly difficult for the 65-year-old Ali, who has Parkinson’s disease.
