An Army sergeant from Cicero has been killed in Iraq, the Department of Defense announced late Tuesday.

Pedro J. Colon, 25, died Monday in the capital city of Baghdad after suffering wounds when his unit came under attack by enemy forces using multiple weapons, officials said. He was deployed to Iraq in November.

Colon joined the military in August 2001 as a power generation equipment repairer and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.
