Ann Krystal, nee Pidlisny, 89, beloved wife of 49 years of the late Paul Krystal, passed away Feb. 26 at Friendship Village, Schaumburg; loving mother of Paul (Jennifer) and Laurel; proud grandmother of Matthew (Christa) and Carlyn Olson (Bob); dedicated and joyous great-grandmother “Grandy” of Bobby and Samantha Olson and Max and Frances Krystal; fond sister of the late Mary Shermerdiak; fond aunt of Walter Shermerdiak. Ann was the founder of St. Vadimir Ukrainian Church’s Women’s Auxiliary, a past president of the Locke School PTA, worked for many years with the Glen Ellyn Junior High School and managed the Friendship Village Gift Shop on behalf of the women’s service organization. Ann’s gardening skills are displayed each Spring throughout Glen Ellyn and Park Ridge. As a fisherman she taught her grandchildren to fish and was looking forward to teaching the “Grandy” style of fishing to her great- grandchildren.
