DISTRICT U-46
A fine arts festival will be held during the Eastside Choral Festival at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Elgin High School, 1200 Maroon Drive. The arts festival will feature student artwork, performances and demonstrations in pottery, silk-screening and painting. The choral festival will feature students from Elgin High School along with students from Coleman, Huff, Lords Park, McKinley and Sheridan Elementary Schools. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for students and seniors, $6 per family.
DISTRICT 54
The Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs will hold its annual benefit auction and dinner Friday in Belvedere Banquets, 1170 W. Devon Ave., Elk Grove Village. The auction preview will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner buffet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and the live auction at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Schaumburg Township Council of PTA’s Scholarship Fund. Bilingual kindergarten information night will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 21 in Keller Junior High School, 820 Bode Rd., Schaumburg. Information on bilingual programs–including English-Spanish and English-Japanese dual language–will be presented. Kindergarten registration will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, 3 and 7 p.m. March 21 and 1 and 7 p.m. March 22 in the Dierzen Early Learning Center, 2045 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. Children must be 5 on or before Sept. 1. State law requires incoming kindergarten students to have a physical examination, proof of immunizations and a dental exam. The Board of Education is seeking nominations through Monday for the PRIDE awards, which will be given to outstanding seniors in this year’s graduating class at Woodstock High School. Students can be recognized for scholarship, personal achievement, vocational excellence, fine arts, athletics, school service and community service. A candidates forum will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in Lincoln Junior High School, 700 W. Lincoln St., Mt. Prospect. The six candidates running for three seats on the Board of Education will speak and answer questions.

McHENRY COUNTY COLLEGE
The Kids and College program for prekindergarten- through high school-age students at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake, has scheduled enrichment and remedial classes during spring break, March 26-30. Classes for students in Grades 4 through 8 include computer keyboarding and Animal Antics. Students in Grades 6 through 12 can choose from watercolors, pet portraits, Japanese comics and mythological creature sculpting. The Bartlett Woman’s Club is offering its annual college scholarships to any high school senior who lives in Bartlett. Applications are available in the guidance offices at Bartlett, Streamwood, Elgin and Larkin High Schools. All other high school seniors may call 630-837-8125 for an application. The deadline to apply is April 1.
Mt. Prospect National Bank, 50 N. Main St., Mt. Prospect, is offering two $1,000 college scholarships to graduating high school seniors in its service area. Applications are available from college counselors in the area high schools, as well as in the bank, and are due April 2. Winners will be announced at the bank’s annual meeting May 2. The scholarships are awarded to students who have excelled despite problems with learning, family, health, emotions or other challenges.
Elk Grove Village and the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove are sponsoring three $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who reside in the village. Applications are available from the college centers at Conant, Elk Grove, Driscoll and St. Viator High Schools. The Friends of McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Foundation will award two $500 scholarships to county residents who wish to pursue a career in public law enforcement.
