David E. Sand, 58, of Marshall, WI, formerly of Dixon, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at the University Of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI. He worked for Bristol Myers Products, Chicago, from 1973 – 1984, Crossmark / TCG, Waukesha, WI, as a sales director/team leader from 1984 -2000, Marketing Specialist, Wood Dale, IL, as the regional business development manger, Advantage Sales & Marketing, Arlington Heights, as business development manager / customer development manager, from 2001 – 2002, Tri Star Marketing, Urbana, 2003 – 2004, News America Marketing, Chicago, from 2004 – 2005, as district manager / supervisor, and was in sales at Quaker Oats Company. David was a 4 time winner of the regional broker of the year at Burroughs Wellcome, and national broker of the year at Duracell and Lamaur, hired and trained 2 regional sales representatives of the year, served on Equal Opportunity Council at Bristol Myers, and served on Broker Advisory Councils for Mennen at Burroughs Wellcome and HT Marketing. Mr. Sand was born September 15, 1948, in Ottawa, IL, the son of Emmett and Inez (Anderson) Sand. He married Janet A. Nelson on June 17, 1972, in Dixon. He served in the United States Army, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dixon and Beta Phi Epsilon. David graduated from Senica High School and Carthage College, Kenosha, WI, with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He lived, worked, and raised his family in Waukesha and Hartland Wisconsin from 1973 – 2000. Survivors include his wife of Marshall, WI; one son, Brett D. Sand of Chicago; two daughters, Karin (Travis) Weiss of Sun Prairie, WI, Krista Sand of Marshall, WI; one brother, Gerald (Emily) Sand of Springfield, TN; two sisters, Mary (Robert) McCook of Cherry, IL, Lori (Michael) Wallaert of Arlington, IL; one sister-in-law, Karen D. Nelson of Dixon; and two grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, John and Vernette Nelson; and one brother-in-law, Thomas J. Nelson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at the P reston-Schilling Funeral Home,Dixon, with the Rev. Robert L. Hansen, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dixon, officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to The American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
