– Has “Las Vegas” gone off the air? The last time I saw it, a friend of Danny had set off a bomb at the top of the building, with Delinda in the same room. What happened? — Rudolph Bauer, Hackensack, N.J.

You’ll have to tune in this fall to find out. That was the admittedly early season finale of the NBC show, which has been renewed for a fifth year. Presumably, all the lingering questions will be resolved then — also including what happens to kidnapping victim Sam (Vanessa Marcil), who was transported secretly out of the hotel in a trunk — but we already know a couple of facts in terms of cast members who won’t be returning to the series. James Caan (alias Ed on the show) has elected not to return, and Nikki Cox (Mary) was let go.

– Will “Men in Trees” return to ABC? The program is a favorite of mine. — Gretchen Lea, Auburn, Wash.

And of quite a few other people, too, based on the mail we’ve gotten about it lately. The situation may have changed between the time this was written and the time you read it, but ABC was planning to wait until fall to put the Anne Heche show back on the air. The good news is that it definitely has been renewed for a second year; whether it returns sooner may depend largely on how the ratings go for whatever is in the post-“Grey’s Anatomy” slot on Thursdays. (At this writing, ABC’s plans kept changing.)

Ironically, it’s the sort of situation “Grey’s” itself set up when it premiered. That show fared so well when it debuted, ABC decided against bringing back “Boston Legal” in that Sunday slot and held onto the law show’s remaining episodes until the following fall, partially so there would be fewer repeats then.

– I can’t think of the name of a television show I used to watch, but I can tell you some things about it. Gary Cole played a sheriff who may have been some kind of demon, and a dead girl kept showing up to try to protect her brother. I need to know the name of the series and if I can buy it on DVD. — Dotty Weymer, Sharon Hill, Pa.

It was “American Gothic,” which CBS aired during the 1995-96 season. Universal Studios Home Entertainment released the complete series, created and produced by Shaun Cassidy, in a three-disc set in the fall of 2005.
