The pride of Michigan has been sent packing.
Flint native LaKisha Jones, who failed to impress the judges with her performances Tuesday night, was eliminated from “American Idol” on Wednesday. Host Ryan Seacrest said more than 45 million votes were cast.
A nervous Jones seemed to have an ominous feeling before hammer time. Seacrest noticed she was talking to herself during one of the commercial breaks, and she admitted to overanalyzing things.
Jones, 27, wiped away tears after the announcement but pulled it together for a confident rendition of “Stayin’ Alive,” which had her sashaying through the crowd.
Her ouster was predicted moments before when judge Simon Cowell said he thought she would go instead of Blake Lewis, the other bottom feeder Wednesday night. Lewis, who wore a cheesy T-shirt with a printed bow tie, will face off against Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks next week.
