If spoofing is one of the sincerest forms of flattery, then Chicago’s very own Oprah Winfrey is about to feel the love. With “The Color Purple” — which is co-produced by Winfrey — under way at the Cadillac Palace, the cast of “Forbidden Broadway” plans to incorporate “Purple” into their production across town at the Royal George Theatre. “Forbidden Broadway” lovingly lampoons musicals like “Jersey Boys,” “Spamalot” and “Wicked.” Next up is “The Color Purple.” “[Creator Gerard Alessandrini] is working on it right now,” Michael West, part of the cast, told Armour & Co. And will Oprah herself be part of the parody? “She’s mentioned at this point,” he told us.
