John G. “Jack” Burns, 87, of Port Charlotte, FL and formerly of Evanston, IL, passed away Monday, May 21, 2007. Jack attended the University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He retired as Vice President of Bally’s Distributors. Jack was a loving husband and a special friend to all who knew him, and was always ready with a smile and joke. He was the husband of Florence, nee Keegan, and the late Silvia “Sibby” Burns, nee Bushnell; also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; two step-children Karen Ann Pommel and Fred E. (Giny) Pommel both of Port Charlotte; two step-grandchildren Anthony (Meghan) Gallo and John-Paul Gallo. A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Memorial Park Cemetery in the main chapel at 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie, IL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 1441 Spear Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33948 or to Tidewell Hospice and Palliaive Care, 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
