Free booze and jobs. That’s what Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson will be offering Thursday when he visits Chicago to woo young people to the Bluegrass State.
Abramson is scheduled to make his pitch to the Windy City by throwing a party at the Westin Hotel, 909 N. Michigan Ave, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Partygoers will get the chance to hobnob with Abramson and network with Louisville employers, said Abramson spokesman Chris Poynter. There also will be free bourbon and a bugle caller.
“We’ll get you liquored up,” Poynter said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Daley’s office said Abramson’s venture is a “compliment” to the strength of Chicago’s workforce.
“We’ve got a wealth of qualified workers here,” said Adam Yoffe, spokesman for the mayor’s workforce development office. “It makes sense that folks would look to the Chicago market to find the upcoming next stars of industry.”
