Robert A. Kennedy, 89, of Dunwoody, Georgia, passed away June 15, while on a family vacation in Tralee, Ireland. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Kathleen (William) Dodge of Arlington Heights, Illinois; daughter Maureen Kennedy of Bridgewater, New Jersey; son and daughter-in-law Michael (Joanne) Kennedy of Glenview, Illinois; and daughter and son-in-law Colleen (Clyde) Williams of Collinsville, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Peter (Jennifer) Dodge, Amy (Matthew) Cunningham, Benjamin (Rachel) Dodge, Beth Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy, Brian Williams, Kyle Williams, Lisa Lewis, and Lindsey (Kyle) Hackbarth; three great-grandchildren, Drew Dodge, Madeline and Theodore Cunningham; dear friend LaVern LaPota, and a host of wonderful friends; he is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary Madonna Kennedy. Bob was born and raised in North Dakota. After graduating from the University of North Dakota he moved to Illinois where he met and married Madonna. They moved to Evanston, Illinois where their four children were born and raised. While supporting a family, he continued his studies at Northwestern and earned his CPA. A job transfer took Bob and Madonna south to Dunwoody, Georgia in 1978. Bob enjoyed sailing, golf, tennis, bridge and being an active member of The Branches Club and St. Jude the Apostle Parish. He loved a good joke, a very dry martini and gardening. He lived an active life until the end and he will be missed. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Sandy Springs, Georgia on Saturday, June 30 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dunwoody Branch of the Dekalb County Library in Georgia, The American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
