Not sure what to do with those dead batteries?

Get rid of them Saturday, when Chicagoans are encouraged to dispose of their hazardous waste products at the Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Drop-Off Day.

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., residents can drop off products such as old paint cans and batteries at the United Center Parking Lot D, at 1901 W. Madison St.

Other items that will be accepted include: chemicals, electronics, TVs, computers, phones, small appliances, light bulbs, oil-based paints, cleaners, solvents and unused medications.

You also can recycle a gas can for a new environmentally friendly can. And if you bring in an old gas lawn mower, you’ll receive a $100 rebate for a new electric or manual mower.
