It didn’t look good for the United States on Sunday when Mexico took an early 1-0 lead to incite a pro-Mexico sellout crowd at Soldier Field. But the U.S. got even on a penalty kick and then 22-year-old Ben Feilhaber (above, blowing kisses as teammate DaMarcus Beasley follows) drilled the go-ahead goal from 22 yards out in the second half. “I knew when I hit it that it was going to go in,” Feilhaber said. It gave the Americans a 2-1 victory over their biggest rivals and the CONCACAF Gold Cup championship. Landon Donovan’s penalty-kick goal tied him for No. 1 on the all-time U.S. list.
