Seymour “Si” Wald, a garment industry icon and “top gun,” a loving and caring man, passed away June 21, at Glenbrook North hospital after a battle with Alzheimers. His 89 years were full of love and vibrancy. He was the devoted husband to wife, Gloria; guiding light and father to Gary (Connie), Robert and the late Howard; son of the late Max and Lena Wald; a wonderful, caring brother to Belle Gelman, the late Jean Silverman and Lewis Wald; brother-in-law of Len Miller; loving grandfather “Pappa” to Jennifer and Derek. He was born in 1918, grew up in Chicago, and spent his career launching and building successful women’s clothing lines. He was a kind and compassionate man who will be missed and never forgotten by his wonderful family, many close friends, golfing, and card-playing buddies. Chapel Service Tuesday, June 26, 12:30 p.m., at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvneile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall St., New York, NY 10005. No Shiva visitation.
