According to a report on Fortune Magazine’s Web site, John Canning Jr., CEO of Madison Dearborn Partners, is Commissioner Bud Selig’s choice to be the next owner of the Cubs, and the price tag could exceed $1 billion. “I have enormous respect for John Canning, both as a person and as a businessman. But it’s a process that will be fair and open,” Selig told Fortune.
