Kyle Williams, former Bolingbrook High School All-State linebacker, was sentenced Thursday to 37 years in prison for attacking two women in 2005 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., where he had played on the football team.

Williams, 20, of Bolingbrook, was convicted in April of attempted rape, battery and confinement of two women by a Tippecanoe County jury after a three-day trial, said Kristen McVey, Tippecanoe County’s chief deputy prosecutor.

The convictions stem from two attacks on Nov. 29, 2005, one outside a sorority house and another several blocks away. Both victims had been hit in the face and one had her pants pulled down, according to trial testimony. DNA evidence connected him to both crimes.

Williams was a student at Purdue and had been a member of the school’s freshman football team for a year but was planning to transfer.

He also faces an attempted rape charge in DuPage County for a Feb. 12, 2006, incident in which he is accused of attacking a woman in Lisle. After Williams allegedly punched her, she escaped, authorities said.

McVey said that once Williams is incarcerated in an Indiana prison, DuPage officials can decide how to proceed with their charges.
